Doe Bridge Area Walkabout

Our next get together is scheduled for December 4th (Rain date December 11th) at 2:00 PM

We’ll meet along Delaware 30, 1.5 miles north of Millsboro, on the west side of Route 30, across from Doc Frame Road. Park just off the road, in the area of the open field, just north of the Revel Farm.

There are more interesting features to see and discuss on the east side of the branch and connections with the Old King’s Highway are more easily conveyed from this vantage point. We’ll share our findings from a recent walk that three of us made on the west side.

There are a few new people who share our interest in local history and who have indicated a desire to come along for this outing.  Ron Vickers, Manager of the DNREC Office of Land Preservation, is expected to be with us again and Craig Lukezic, an archaeologist with the State Historic Preservation Office, and President of the Archaeological Society of Delaware, will be joining us. I am very hopeful that all of our local historians and charter members can be with us this time.

Please allow 5 or 10 minutes to park and walk back to Doe Bridge Mill area. We’ll start at the old mill area and wind our way back to the cemetery and the site of the old Indian River Presbyterian Church.

Thanks for sharing in an interest for this area and I look forward to seeing each of you there.
